Potential for housing crisis in South Norfolk?

OCTOBER 2020

Planning White Paper – “Planning for the Future”

As part of the Governments ongoing review into “Housing Need” as defined by the recent Planning White Paper “Planning for the Future”, there are various areas that have been identified by Central Government that are going to need to see significant growth and new housing developments required in the coming years.

Nationally, South Norfolk is the only Authority in the Eastern Region (encompassing Norfolk. Suffolk, Essex and Cambridgeshire) showing as “red” which means that the Local Authority will be considerably under their land & housing requirements for new residential development and growth, according to the Planning White Paper revealed recently by Central Government in respect of housing need, if new measures are introduced which the Government are currently debating upon.

Therefore there is still potential to be able to obtain planning permission on land within your ownership moving forwards despite the Greater Norwich Local Plan (GNLP) being at an advanced stage.

Therefore if you own land in South Norfolk (of any size) which is located close to or adjacent to existing towns/villages (which have some (or all of) the following services, i.e. shops, pubs, schools, village hall etc) then please do contact us to assess the potential of your land for future housing growth, which could maximise the value of the land and provide a significant increase in value if planning permission is obtained.
