Appeal Success: Approval of 170 new homes including outdoor and indoor sports provision and new Country Park at Brundall

NOVEMBER 2020

APPEAL SUCCESS BRUNDALL, NORFOLK (BROADLAND DISTRICT COUNCIL) 11th November 2020 – delighted to have been part of the team along with Licfields UK (the UK’s leading 5 year land supply experts) and Landmark Chambers to have secured planning consent on appeal for a development of 170 dwellings for Quantum Land to include a sports pavilion, a new County Park and formal and informal outdoor sports provision and on a highly sustainable site and location offering a wide variety of shops and services within walking distance from the site.

This site was interestingly not determined based on whether the authority could demonstrate a 5 year land supply as the Inspector concluded that it was a sustainable location for new housing development regardless of the position.

The Inspector stated:-

“The Council considers that it is able to demonstrate a 5.56 year housing land supply, while the appellant is of the view it is 4.46 years. Even if, for the purposes of this appeal, I was to adopt the Council’s figure, the provision of 170 homes within an accessible location would support the Government’s objective of significantly boosting the supply of homes contained within the Framework”
